Answer when it needs you
Permission prompts and questions become cards you answer with a tap. Whatever is waiting, on any computer, sits at the top.
iPhone app, now in TestFlight beta
Tavi is a native iPhone app for the terminals and coding agents already running on your Mac or Linux computer. Watch them work, type into them, and answer them when they need you, from anywhere.
npx tavi-host connect
What it is
Tavi doesn't wrap your tools in a new framework. Claude Code, Codex, a test watcher or a plain shell keep running on your computer, exactly as they do now. Tavi gives you a durable terminal and a phone-first way to launch, watch, type into and answer them.
Your agents stay on your Mac or Linux computer, with your files and your tools. Nothing is copied to a server; Tavi just lets you reach them.
With herdr, an agent keeps running when your phone locks, changes networks or loses signal. Open Tavi again and it's right where you left it.
A real terminal with a key row for esc, tab, the arrows and ctrl-C, plus cards for the moments an agent needs a yes, a no or an answer.
How it works
There is nothing else to set up: no account, no VPN, no port forwarding.
On your Mac or Linux computer, with Node.js 20 or later, run npx tavi-host connect. It shows what it will set up, asks once, and runs Tavi in the background, keeping it up to date by itself.
In Tavi, tap Scan pairing code. Check that the fingerprint on your phone matches the one in the terminal, then confirm. A code pairs one phone, for five minutes.
On the same network your phone goes straight to your computer. Anywhere else it goes through Tavi's relay, always encrypted to your computer's own key.
Connection and security
Every session is TLS end to end, pinned to your computer's own key. The phone talks only to the computer it paired with, and anything in between sees encrypted bytes.
In the app
Permission prompts and questions become cards you answer with a tap. Whatever is waiting, on any computer, sits at the top.
Connect a Mac and a Linux box. Each one shows its connection health, and you see at a glance which is awake.
A real terminal you can type into, with a key row for the keys a phone keyboard doesn't have.
Open the dev server running on your computer, right on your phone, without exposing it to the internet.
See what an agent changed, read its commits, and merge from your phone with Pro.
Send a photo or a screenshot to an agent, straight from your phone.
Talk instead of typing. Dictation runs on your iPhone.
Lock Tavi behind Face ID if you like, so a borrowed phone stays out of your shell.
Works with
If it runs in a terminal on your computer, it runs in Tavi: Claude Code, Codex, a test runner, a plain shell. The terminal is the common ground, so Tavi needs no adapter for each tool.
Out of the box, Tavi is a remote terminal for the computers you own, on macOS and Linux.
Add herdr, which connect can set up for you, and Tavi shows each agent as a card, starts new ones from your phone, and keeps them running when you disconnect.
When Claude Code is on your computer, connect adds its hooks, so your phone knows when Claude asks something, finishes or gets stuck.
An in-app subscription through Apple that adds more computers, the fast path, previews and merging from your phone.
Questions
No. Tavi doesn't run or replace any agent. Your agents, such as Claude Code or Codex, run on your computer as they do now; Tavi gives you a terminal and a phone-first way to work with them.
No. Your code, files, prompts, the agents' replies and what your terminals show stay between your phone and your computer, encrypted end to end. When a session goes through Tavi's relay, the relay passes on encrypted bytes it can't read.
None of them. You connect a computer by scanning a code in its terminal. There's no sign-in and no email.
An iPhone with Tavi, and a Mac or Linux computer with Node.js 20 or later. herdr is optional: without it Tavi is a plain remote terminal; with it you get agent cards and can start agents from your phone.
Tavi is in beta on TestFlight, Apple's app for testing new apps. Invites are by request: email support@tavihost.com to ask for one.
Ask for an inviteOn a Mac or Linux computer with Node.js 20 or later, run this, then scan the code it shows with Tavi.
